Drone & Video
You know a photo shoot is going to be interesting when the client wants to involve a classic car and Big Sur! Renada called me up and started to desribe what she was envisioning. She was traveling from Atlanta with friends and had dreamed of driving a 1961 pink Cadillac convertible along the California coast. She also imagined the clothes, the locations, the look, the feeling, and having her friends there to experience it with her.
Read MoreI don’t know if I ever started a shoot at 9pm before, let alone 9pm on a Friday, but that’s just what I did taking my camera and gimbal to Deja Blue in Seaside, California to make a branding and marketing video at a time when the jazz club is actually full of people and there is live jazz playing. It was very lively in there so it woke me up, haha when normally I’d be winding down. This video contains mostly un-staged clips. All the band shots were them performing live and me capturing live. Even most of the scenes with the Deja Blue staff and behind the bar were captured live, but also with a few staged pouring and action clips. Through this process I was able to make a marketing video showing a real Friday night in the club! Thank you to the staff of Deja Blue for being good actors when needed, and to the band for making the place come alive!
Read MoreDeep in the woods of Pebble Beach, I arrived at this job site to make in progress construction drone video for Gonzalo of Peninsula Construction. This was my second on location shoot for Gonzalo, the first being in Seaside. The majority of remaining construction at this Pebble Beach house was in the backyard putting in a new deck and putting green! This logistics were favorable for drone video at this site, with some trees, but none right overhead, not a power line in site, and Gonazalo’s crew in action working on the deck. This allowed me to get the drone in pretty close to the action, to contrast with higher establishing shots as well.

I have experience flying around cranes, and know it can result in some pretty cool drone video shots! Hare Construction is also one of my new repeat construction clients, as earlier this year I photographed one of their construction projects on Laurel Ave in Pacific Grove.

From team headshots, to the grand opening, to teaching the staff dental photography, to now this combo drone + gimbal video, it is always a great experience collaborating. It was a bit of a challenge getting drone video of the exterior of her practice, as this is when I first learned how aggressive seagulls are in the summer in Pacific Grove! I was lucky to be able to get just one elevator shot up showing the dental practice’s proximity to the PG coast. Moving inside the practice, getting the handheld gimbal video was free from any avian attacks! Dr. Jamie had a plan for the scenes she wanted video of. We made the continuous following shot of her through the practice in to see a patient in only two takes! The rest of the team did great in their shots as well. Thank you so much to Dr. Jamie for continuing to choose me as your photographer, drone pilot, and videographer too!
Read MoreThis was my third video shoot for Del Mesa Carmel working with Odeli, and each one has been very different! The first video showed the highlights of a guest room, the next was a drone video showing the entire expansive property, to now this one, of the grand opening of a newly renovated dog park. There were vendors in attendance and food offered to note the new and improved place for the community’s dogs and owners to meet up at and play. As you can see in the video, the dogs seemed to really like it! My goal with the video was to show a number of things, from the vibe of the event itself, to the renovations made to the part showing some of its new, unique features, and of course to capture some wagging tails and dog on the loose activity. I was happy to be invited back to Del Mesa Carmel for making video of this special community event. Thank you to Odeli for helping with the shoot and for continuing to choose me as your videographer, photographer, and drone pilot!
Read MoreAfter making a video and photo set one of the guest rooms at Del Mesa Carmel earlier this year, I was invited back to capture drone video and aerial photography of the community and surrounding Carmel Valley landscape. It was great to work with Odeli again who made the whole process of getting drone video of the expansive 55+ community organized and efficient. They just updated the courtyard by the main community building, so I made that one of the focuses of the drone video.
